Sister Cities
Association
Muscatine, Iowa USA
To offer the people of Muscatine and of similar cities in other nations opportunities to get acquainted -- to understand one another as individuals, as members of their community, as citizens of their country, and as part of the family of nations.

BUILDING
BRIDGES

of Understanding!

Since our founding in 1986, we have established relationships with eight cities in seven countries:

 ARGENTINA
Crespo (pop. 12,000) is located approximately 22 miles from Paraná in Entre Ríos Province. Its main industry is agriculture; it has been called the poultry capital of South America. Paraná (pop. 203,000) is the capital of Entre Ríos and the educational and cultural center of its region. Government and agriculture are the main sources of jobs.

 JAPAN
Ichikawadaimon (pop. 10,000) is located near Mount Fuji and Kofu, the capital of Iowa's Sister State, Yamanashi Prefecture. Paper products and fireworks are the major industries.

 GERMANY
Ludwigslust (pop. 13,000) is capital of a district of the same name (on rail line and highways between Berlin and Hamburg) and site of The Schloss, built by Prince Ludwig in the 1770s. Known as the "Versailles of the North," the palace is located in the middle of a vast park with canals, fountains, and artificial cascades.

 POLAND
Lomza (pop. 80,000) is located in northeastern Poland. The former capital of the region, its history goes back to the ninth century when a settlement was founded on the Narew River. An area of great scenic beauty, its industry is primarily agricultural.

 RUSSIA
Kislovodsk (pop. 114,000) is located in Iowa's Sister State, Stavropol krai, near the magnificent Caucasus Mountains in southern Russia. Known for therapeutic mineral water springs and health spas, the town is noted for production of fine porcelain.

 UKRAINE
Drohobych (pop. 100,000) is located in the scenic foothills of the Carpathian mountains in western Ukraine. Founded over 900 years ago because of its salt deposits, our newest sister city is a business and manufacturing center with nearby oil and tourist industries.

 URUGUAY
Paysandu (pop. 80,000) is located on the Uruguay River and is famous for its thermal springs. The major industries are meat packing, leather, breweries, and woolen mills.
